Recognise unique Norse and Gaelic heritage in space!

Our attention has been drawn to this by Steve Mithan who delivered the 2019 Academic Lecture. ‘Dunyvaig’ and ‘Finlaggan’ have been shortlisted as the names for a new exoplanet and its host star in a national competition. The names were proposed by the 1st Islay Scouts. More than 1000 pairs of names were proposed from across the country and only 10 have been shortlisted. There is now a public vote to choose the winner, with voting closing on 2 December.

Go to: www.exoworld.co.uk/exoworld-competition-2019/#anchor-8 to vote for Dunyvaig and Finlaggan. Please pass on to secure as many votes as possible! Scroll down for the voting link or use the link below.

Voting opens on November 19th and closes on December 2nd 2019, with the winner announced mid-December. Votes can be cast via the UK competition website: www.exoworld.co.uk
