We welcome everyone who belongs to our great Clan with open arms.
A Clan that has now spread throughout the world, to every continent.
And a Clan in which more than 450 different families are at home, and in which you may also find your place.

My name is Ronald H. Groen van Abtsdale, born and living in the Netherlands, and my connections to Clan Donald are through the MacPhail and MacSporran families, to whom my family is related by marriage.
I have been active in the Clan for over 40 years now.
After the unexpected departure of our president in 2024, I, as vice-president, was forced to take on this position, and the general meeting reaffirmed this in 2025.
The Clan Donald Society tries to organize a number of regular events each year, such as lectures, a ceilidh, commemorative gatherings in Glencoe and Culloden, trips to places relevant to the Clan, etc.
A newsletter is available to all members twice a year, online or in print. But the desire to do more is strong, preferably throughout Scotland.
The Clan Donald Society of Scotland continues to strive to grow and expand its activities, but the lack of volunteers makes this difficult. The younger generation in particular, is sorely missed in the Society, even though this group has a very high interest in the Clan.
However, the lack of volunteers is a problem in almost all organizations, so we continue to seek ways to expand. You are very welcome to strengthen our ranks!
But as a member of Clan Donald, you are the most important factor in our growth.
Without you and your ideas, the Society would have been gone a long time ago, and we, the councillors, certainly wouldn't have enjoyed what we do!
So: please continue to support us, and for all those who are new here: become a member of the Clan Donald Society of Scotland, if only because we would love to see you with your family!

Mission Statement
To create a focus for people who belong to Scotland’s largest clan, which includes the MacDonalds of Sleat and of Clanranald; the MacDonells/MacDonalds of Glengarry and of Keppoch; the MacIains/MacDonalds of Glencoe; the MacIains of Ardnamurchan and the MacDonnells of Antrim.
