Searching for a living relative of Flora MacDonald

Dear team,

I am a media producer in Sydney, Australia and working with a well known author, radio presenter and journalist, Sarah Macdonald to write a book about ageing as a woman. Sarah is very keen to find out if there are any living relatives of Flora MacDonald, who she thinks she might be related to. Even if she isn’t, we’d love to find a living relative of Flora’s or an historical expert who could talk about her. Flora spent time on Benbecula and I’m wondering if I need to approach someone on the island.

We would be grateful for any of your suggestions or help in locating a relative of Flora’s or someone who knows a lot about her.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am researching my Newfoundland McIsaac family and am trying to establish the Scottish origins of my ancestor Duncan McIsaac.

Duncan lived in Newfoundland and was married to Eva Wadman. A 1935 Newfoundland census records Duncan as about 68 years old and born in Newfoundland, with his father recorded as Scottish and his mother as Canadian.

I am particularly interested in determining where Duncan's McIsaac family originated in Scotland, and whether he may have connections to the MacIsaac families associated with Clan Donald.

I wondered whether your library or archives contain any material that might help identify his family or place of origin, particularly concerning MacIsaac families from the western Highlands or Islands.

I would be very grateful for any guidance you can provide.

Later, Margaret added - I'd also like to draw your attention to a report I recently discovered, outlining my great-grandfather's geneology as it leads directly to Scotland in the Moidart area. It may be helpful for other enquiries or your own research.
It's called Glenn Harding's Descendants of John MacIsaac genealogy, which identifies Daniel MacIsaac of Moidart as the father of Duncan MacIsaac, born Grand River, NL, Canada in1866 and contains a 4 generation chart.
